Three ways to finish a floor right
Every job starts the same way, with diamond ground concrete. From there we build up one of these systems depending on the look and the wear you need.
Metallic epoxy
A moving, marbled finish made with 100% solids epoxy and metallic pigment, sealed under a urethane top coat. This is the floor people stop and look at.
- Base: 1040 Bondkoat water based epoxy or 250 HP 100% epoxy
- Top coat: MCU 85 no odor urethane, 6000 gloss, or 6100 matte
- Coverage runs 100 to 300 sq ft per gallon depending on layer
Polyaspartic flake, 2 day
The same full broadcast flake floor with a 100% solids epoxy base for extra build and impact resistance, plus your choice of polyaspartic or urethane top coat.
- Base: Flake Base 100% epoxy or 250 HP 100% epoxy
- Top coat: Polykoat GL 70 through GL 90, or MCU 85
- Full slab depth, heaviest duty option we offer

How a project runs
From bare concrete to finished floor
Walkthrough
We measure the space, check the slab, and talk through which system fits your garage and your budget.
Grinding & prep
Concrete gets diamond ground, not acid etched, so every coat that follows has something real to bite into.
Base & broadcast
We roll the base coat and, on flake systems, broadcast your chosen blend to full refusal.
Top coat & cure
A clear urethane or polyaspartic top coat seals everything in and gives you the sheen you picked.
Common questions
What people usually ask
How much does an epoxy garage floor cost in the Chicago suburbs?
Cost depends on square footage, the system you choose, and how much floor prep the slab needs. Metallic epoxy runs higher than a standard flake floor because of the extra labor and pigment. Call 800-433-8082 or request a free estimate and we will give you a firm number after seeing the space.
How long does installation take?
Our 2 day polyaspartic flake system covers grinding, base coat, flake broadcast, and top coat over two days. Metallic epoxy systems typically take a similar amount of time depending on the finish and number of coats.
What areas do you serve?
We install garage floor coatings across the Chicago metro suburbs. Garage Floors R Us is a division of Northwest Floor Care, based in Arlington Heights, IL.
What is the difference between metallic epoxy and flake flooring?
Metallic epoxy uses metallic pigment in a 100% solids epoxy base to create a marbled, moving finish. Flake flooring broadcasts colored vinyl flake into a base coat for a speckled, uniform look. Both are sealed under a clear top coat and both hold up to daily garage use.
Do I need to clear out my garage before installation?
Yes. The garage needs to be fully emptied before we grind the concrete, since diamond grinding and coating both require a clear, accessible slab.
